07 Oct Marianna — Actor Headshots & a 90s Twist
I recently had the chance to photograph Marianna from The Meus Talent Agency again, and working with her is always such a good time.
She’s one of those people who walks into the studio already grounded, positive, and ready to go. It makes everything flow easily. We started with actor headshots, and as expected, she was quick, natural, and completely in it. The kind of session where things just work.
I’ve worked with Marianna before — last summer we did a mix of studio and outdoor photos, and it was such a fun shoot. Since then, I’ve loved watching what she’s been up to. She’s always involved in creative work, including the Fringe Festival, and it’s really inspiring to see.
This time around, something shifted mid-shoot.
She had this faded denim jacket with her, and it immediately sparked something. After we wrapped the headshots, I asked if she’d be up for trying a few more moody, creative shots — and of course, she said yes (which is exactly why I love working with her).
We ended up creating a small set of images with a subtle 90s grunge feel. Nothing overdone — just that effortless mix of softness, mood, and quiet confidence. The kind of look that feels natural but still says something.
Another thing I loved about this session — the first time I photographed Marianna, she was blonde. This time, she’s brunette, and it completely changes the energy in the best way. She can pull off both, but the brunette tones add so much warmth and depth to her look. It was really fun getting to photograph two different versions of her over time.
Sessions like this are my favourite. We come in with a clear goal — strong, clean actor headshots — and then leave space for something unexpected to happen.
And sometimes, that’s where the best images live.
I’m already looking forward to the next time we create together.
