Some headshot sessions feel like work, and others feel like pure creative momentum. My session with Mendee was one of those shoots that felt refreshing from the moment she walked into the studio.

Mendee is represented by Lisa at Meuse Talent Agency, and she brought such a positive, upbeat energy to the space. She has one of those personalities that instantly makes you feel comfortable, and that kind of presence translates beautifully on camera. Not only is she expressive and confident, but she also has an amazing sense of style. Every outfit she brought felt intentional, flattering, and full of personality, which made it easy to create a variety of looks throughout the session.

We had an absolute blast moving through different outfits, expressions, and character-driven moments. One of my favourite things about photographing actors is watching them shift into different versions of themselves so naturally. Mendee has a great range and an effortless ability to adjust her energy depending on the mood we were going for, whether it was something bright and approachable, calm and grounded, or more serious and dramatic.

Throughout the session, we connected so easily, and I loved getting to know her personality beyond just the photos. She has a great sense of humour and such a genuinely positive attitude, which made the shoot not only productive, but genuinely fun.

By the end of our headshot session, Mendee expressed interest in being part of my 1,000 People Project, which I was so excited about. Not long after, we captured her project session at her acting class, which gave me the chance to see her range in action and photograph her in a completely different environment. I’ll be sharing a separate blog post about that session soon.

Overall, working with Mendee was such a great experience. Sessions like this are a reminder of why I love photographing actors. It’s not just about creating a strong headshot, it’s about capturing personality, presence, and the small details that make someone stand out.
