30 Sep A Thousand People Project: Hidden Work, Real Lives
My 1,000 People Project is about documenting people as they truly are in their own worlds. Rather than polished final results, this project focuses on the quieter in-between moments, the lives, routines, creativity, and work that often go unseen. It is about giving value to the process, not just the finished product.
Recently, I photographed two very different sessions, one with Raadhaa and one with Elle. Their worlds were completely different in style, yet both represented something I love most about this project: being invited into real moments that matter.
Raadhaa: Radiance, Purpose, and Community
Raadhaa has been an incredible support and collaborator since the beginning of my photography journey. She is a highly talented makeup artist whose work has always impressed me, especially the precision and beauty of how she shapes lips. Her artistry is thoughtful, polished, and consistently beautiful.
Over the years, I have also photographed her children for actor headshots when they were very young. Seeing them now as adults in university is surreal and wonderful. Time moves quickly.
Raadhaa is one of those rare people whose positivity changes the energy of a room. She is vibrant, generous, full of life, and genuinely enjoyable to be around. That same spirit carries into her podcast and wellness platform, The Radiant Chapter.
Through events and interviews, she helps women navigate health topics that are often overlooked or underserved. She brings in specialists to discuss areas such as hormonal health, intimacy, wellness, and other important issues where many women are left trying to find answers on their own. I recently attended one of her events and it was thoughtful, empowering, and full of practical insight.
For this session, I photographed Raadhaa in the beautiful setting where she records her podcast. Her home space has soaring ceilings, chandeliers, natural light, and warmth. She wore a gorgeous floral dress and looked completely at home in the chair where she interviews guests and leads conversations that help others.
I also had the chance to join her podcast recently, where I spoke about my experiences with dyslexia and exploring autism and ADHD, as well as navigating life and work as a neurodivergent person. It was a meaningful conversation, and I appreciate how willing Raadhaa is to create space for honest stories.
Elle: The Invisible Work of Creativity
My second recent session was with Elle, and it was a completely different mood. These images were captured in black and white as she welcomed me into her home while working on an upcoming musical project with her creative partner.
She sat on the floor brainstorming ideas while her partner worked nearby on the computer, helping shape notes, music, and structure. It was quiet, thoughtful, and deeply creative.
What I loved most was witnessing the stage of creation that most people never see. Audiences usually see the final performance, the polished launch, the success story. They do not often see the floor covered in notes, the conversations, the uncertainty, the shaping of ideas before they become something public.
That is what makes 1,000 People Project so meaningful to me. It gives people a chance to see themselves in the process. It creates a record of the hidden effort, the unseen labour, and the human reality behind accomplishment.
It is always a privilege when someone welcomes me into their personal space to document those moments. These sessions are not about perfection. They are about truth, atmosphere, and glimpses into lives in motion.
