16 Sep APRIL — MIM Models | Beauty & Fashion Session
April is a model represented by MIM Models, and from the moment we connected, I was drawn to her look and presence. There’s a natural curiosity in her that comes through both in person and in front of the camera.
We started the session with simple, clean studio portraits before moving into beauty-focused looks. Fatima joined us for makeup and hair and created a bold red lip paired with a slicked-back hairstyle that felt both strong and refined. It completely shifted the energy of the shoot and gave us a striking direction to build from.
I wanted to bring in a subtle sense of playfulness, so we introduced a tomato into the set. It’s something I like to do in beauty sessions, incorporating fruit for that fresh, organic feel. And technically, a tomato is a fruit, which made it even more fun. It added a bit of unexpected character without taking away from the overall aesthetic.
April handled it effortlessly. What could feel like an unusual prop became completely natural in her hands. She has a way of settling into a concept quickly and making it her own, which made the shoot flow easily from one idea to the next.
We later shifted into a darker setup with a deeper background, keeping the same elements but changing the mood. It created a nice contrast within the session while still feeling cohesive.
Although April is relatively new to modeling, she’s been very active and intentional about developing her craft. Her presence in the studio is striking, and she’s incredibly easy to work with. She asks questions, observes, and continues to grow, which is always exciting to see. It’s been really nice watching her work appear more and more, and seeing that progression over time.
Fatima did an amazing job bringing the looks together, and overall, it was a really enjoyable session from start to finish.
