It was such a pleasure having Dylan in the studio for a model portfolio session in preparation for the Canadian Model and Talent Convention (CMTC). Dylan is 19 years old and is stepping into the modelling world with a strong start, and this session was created specifically to help him build the images he needed to submit for the convention in Toronto this March.

His mom, Cara-Leigh, reached out to me earlier this year to inquire about model photos, and it was clear right away that they were both excited and motivated, even though this was a new experience for them. I always appreciate when clients come in with a goal in mind, and CMTC is a great opportunity for emerging talent to gain experience and exposure in the industry.

From the moment Dylan stepped in front of the camera, he was exceptionally comfortable and natural. His expressions were strong, his posing felt effortless, and he held each pose with confidence and control. He had a calm presence on set, which made it easy to move through different looks and create a variety of images that felt professional and polished.

Before the session, I had wondered whether Dylan’s height might be a limitation in my studio due to my ceiling height, but it turned out to be a non-issue. Dylan adapted so well, and we used sitting poses and angles that showcased his height and proportions beautifully without needing traditional standing full-length shots. It worked perfectly for the space and allowed us to create a strong variety of images while keeping everything clean and flattering.

Cara-Leigh was also wonderful to have on set. I genuinely love having parents in the studio, and she was supportive, helpful, and brought such a positive energy to the session. She helped with wardrobe, encouraged Dylan, and added an extra level of comfort that made the shoot feel relaxed and fun. Even when someone is technically an adult, having a parent or supportive person there can make the entire experience feel less intimidating and more enjoyable, especially when it’s your first time doing something like this.

By the end of the session, we captured a strong selection of images that fit the CMTC submission requirements, including clean commercial-style portraits and polished model portfolio looks. Dylan did an amazing job, and I’m truly excited for him as he heads into this next step of his modelling journey.
