23 Feb Military Portrait Session with Allan
I get to meet some incredible people through photography. Allan is no exception. He has traveled the world while serving our country through the Canadian Armed Forces and has both lots of stories and photos to share. I have great respect for people who dedicate their lives to protect our freedom so it was a great honour to take Allan’s portrait in his Army Mess Kit. He showed me photos of the uniform ahead of time so I had time to plan how I wanted to photograph it. I wanted to have a vibrant portrait, but not to take away from Allan or his uniform. I opted for an off red background to make the red in his uniform to pop. Here’s our formal portraits together.
Allan mentioned that the Army Mess Kit is often worn at formal events such as galas and balls so we incorporated some props such as rum on the rocks to help bring the poses to life. It’s always fun to be able to add a flair of personality to portraits when given the chance, and we had fun with these next few.
