Ottawa’s Roe v. Wade Protest

Ottawa’s Roe v. Wade Protest

“You say you want a revolution
Well, you know we all want to change the world
You tell me that it’s evolution
Well, you know we all want to change the world
But when you talk about destruction
Don’t you know that you can count me out”
                        – Revolution, by the Beatles

Few things mean as much to me as women’s rights.  So when I saw on Facebook that there was a pro-choice protest happening in Ottawa to fight back against the United States’ overturning of Roe v. Wade, I knew I had to attend!  I also couldn’t resist quoting my all time favourite band, the Beatles. I saw the opportunity and jumped on it.

I must say that the organizers (Defend Choice) who put this protest together did an impeccable job. The protest was very peaceful and well organized. People and their dogs who attended were holding/wearing such strong powerful messages I couldn’t help but feel empowered. I admire their bravery and strength. There were even some pretty humorous signs as well. I found myself so engaged that the walk from Parliament to the American Embassy felt like it was over in a blink of an eye. Or maybe it was because I was having such a good time that time flew by. Either way, it was well done and I want to cheer on everyone involved.

Without further adieu, here are the portraits I captured of the women’s rights movement. Enjoy!

*side note: if you are in any of these portraits and would like a copy, feel free to email me and I will send you the full size images. It would be my pleasure.*
