22 May Check out Passionflower Yoga!
I had the pleasure of photographing Anna, the owner of Passionflower Yoga, twice and both times were so much fun! I would be doing my readers a disservice if I didn’t introduce Anna and her incredible business to you all. Anna offers virtual yoga classes a few times a week through her website. On her website she also have videos you can watch that are categorized through the title so you know what each class is about and the benefits it will have on your body. I will link her website below at the end of my blog for you all to check out. For these portraits, Anna had Fatima do her makeup. Anna wanted a pretty natural look which makes perfect sense with fitness based portraits.
Anna fell in love with yoga when her friend introduced it to her. This lead her to study yoga abroad at yoga retreats in Central America and Bali, Indonesia. I find Anna’s life very fascinating and I admire her adventurous spirt and her want to learn more about the things she loves. What makes this even cooler is she has a passion to teach and her knowledge is remarkable.
Before our shoot together, I scouted some cool spots that I thought would look cool for some yoga shots. We did our first shoot together at the Arboretum. It is one of my favourite spots to shoot because there is a lot of open space and diversity in the trees (as the park’s name implies). Our goal was to capture Anna practicing her yoga in fun summery locations. I think we nailed it!
As you can see, Anna did some cool side planks and other side poses that are tricky to hold for a long time. She was very patient with me and dedicated to get the shots she wanted.
Anna and I did our second shoot together in October when the leaves were changing and the backgrounds were colourful. We did this shoot at the Conroy Pit. Anna is a big dog lover so she was at home at this location. My dog even attended the shoot. He loves Anna too.
I had so much fun photographing Anna. I love helping business with their marketing portraits. Especially those who are creative and opened to trying new spots and new ideas. Anna was on board with each location I suggested but she was very helpful with knowing which yoga poses she would like to do and she knew which location would be best used for each pose.
You may recognize Anna and not know where else you may know her from. She is also a professional oboist and play music professional at Canada’s National Art Centre Orchestra in Ottawa. She’s one skilled lady!
