01 Apr Dinner and Mini Photo Session with Photographer Neil Coleman
It was such a great evening catching up with my friend and fellow photographer, Neil Coleman. Neil photographed my wedding years ago, and it’s always a pleasure to reconnect. I reached out to invite him over for dinner and dessert, and to see if he’d be up for a quick ten-minute studio shoot so I could photograph him with his camera. He happily agreed, and the night turned out perfectly.
When he arrived, we kept things really relaxed. Neil took some candid photos of me, Vince, and our dog Ozzy in the living room, just capturing us as we are at home. I love those simple, honest moments that show real life and connection.
Before dinner was ready, we headed downstairs to the studio for a quick five- to ten-minute session where I photographed Neil with his camera. It was casual, creative, and low-pressure—exactly the kind of shoot I love when collaborating with another photographer.
After we wrapped up, we enjoyed a homemade dinner together, followed by apple crisp for dessert, his favourite. The evening was filled with conversation about photography, what’s inspiring us these days, and his upcoming trip to South Africa to visit his mom for her 80th birthday.
Neil is such a kind, down-to-earth person and one of the busiest event photographers in Ottawa, always on the go. It was really nice to slow down for a night, share a meal, talk about life and art, and simply enjoy each other’s company. It was a really good evening.
Here’s photos I captured of Neil in the studio:
