28 Jan Exploring Mood and Colour with Celeste
This creative session was all about growth — both mine as a photographer and Celeste’s as a model. It was our second time working together, and for this shoot, we decided to explore a moodier, fashion-inspired boudoir direction. The focus was on tuning into those subtle, sultry expressions while experimenting with fuchsia and purple gels to create atmosphere and depth.
The entire shoot was designed as a creative practice session — just one hour with no pressure, no expectations, and no set outcome in mind. It was about playing with light, experimenting with gels, and seeing where the process would take us. That freedom to explore is one of the most valuable ways to grow as a photographer. It allows for happy accidents, unexpected discoveries, and images that come from curiosity rather than a checklist.
Celeste was the perfect collaborator for this type of session. She’s an amazing model who is actively building her skills and refining her craft with every shoot. It’s always inspiring to work with people who invest in their growth, shoot regularly, and work with different photographers to find their style. Watching that evolution unfold is both rewarding and exciting.
She’s also a genuinely sweet and easygoing person, with a great sense of humour and a relaxed presence that makes working together a real pleasure. The energy of the session was light, creative, and collaborative — exactly the kind of environment that lets experimentation flourish.
In the end, we created a set of images that feel moody, expressive, and full of personality. More importantly, the shoot reminded me why these kinds of sessions matter: they’re about growth, exploration, and the joy of creating without expectations.
