24 Sep Portrait Session with Alex Chabot – A Creative Collaboration
As a photographer, I believe strongly in the value of practice — not just for the sake of technical improvement, but as a way to continue growing as an artist. Every session teaches me something new, and one of the best parts of this ongoing creative journey is the opportunity to collaborate with incredibly talented individuals.
This recent shoot with local model and actor Alex Chabot, represented by Angie’s Models, was a perfect example of that.
Alex responded to a shoutout I posted, looking for men interested in having their portrait taken in exchange for images. These collaborations give both of us something valuable: fresh content for our portfolios and the chance to experiment creatively without pressure.
We didn’t plan too much in advance — I knew I wanted to capture some new headshots, and I was excited to see what Alex would bring to the table. He absolutely delivered. He showed up with a standout wardrobe, including a super fun pink suit and blazer, which he styled with a sparkly black top. It was bold, expressive, and such a joy to photograph. We also captured some more classic looks, including a simple black shirt and a beautifully textured jacket that caught the light perfectly.
Alex is a fantastic model — he has a wide range in both posing and expression, and he needed very little direction throughout the shoot. Not to mention, he has the most striking eyes, which really come through in the portraits.
The atmosphere was relaxed and upbeat. We played Alex’s favorite music throughout the session, which added great energy and helped keep things light and spontaneous. And as a little bonus, I had baked some homemade gluten-free cookies, still warm from the oven when he arrived — a small touch that helped make the shoot feel even more personal and enjoyable.
This session was a great reminder of why I love what I do. The freedom to create, the joy of collaboration, and the reward of capturing someone’s essence through the lens — that’s what keeps me inspired.
