In the world of acting, first impressions matter—often before an actor even steps into an audition room. A strong headshot is more than just a photo; it’s a calling card, a glimpse into an actor’s range, and a powerful tool to open doors in the industry. Recently, I had the pleasure of photographing two talented young Canadian actors, Maristella and Nemi, who are taking their first steps into the acting world after graduating from Screen Acting Academy.
From the moment they arrived, it was clear that Maristella and Nemi were ready to take their careers seriously. They came prepared with a fantastic wardrobe selection—each outfit carefully chosen to showcase different aspects of their on-screen personas. Their approach was professional yet effortless, and their excitement for the session was contagious.
Since they are sisters, the session had a wonderful rhythm. While one was in front of the camera, bringing characters to life with each expression, the other was off-set, changing into the next look. This seamless flow allowed us to maximize their time and capture a diverse range of headshots, ensuring they each had images that could suit a variety of casting opportunities. Their mother was also present throughout the shoot, offering warm and supportive encouragement from the sidelines, which added to the positive energy of the day.
