Spontaneity always brings something special to a shoot, and this recent session with local Ottawa model Brooke Mahas was no exception. This was our second time working together, and once again, Brooke’s energy and creativity made it such a joy.

The shoot wasn’t planned to the T—Brooke had reached out with a simple idea: she was heading to France and Italy soon and wanted to squeeze in a fun, creative session before she left. With her nails freshly painted and her signature down-to-earth spirit, we met up at one of Ottawa’s most scenic dog parks, Conroy Pit. It’s such a beautiful spot, and it gave us lots of natural backdrops to play with.

My husband, Vince, joined us for the day and captured some behind-the-scenes video clips on his phone. In between dancing around, cracking jokes, and being generally goofy, we managed to snap a ton of portraits that reflect the relaxed, joyful vibe of the afternoon.

Brooke always brings such great expression and ease to her sessions, and this one felt like a celebration—of creativity, connection, and the exciting adventures ahead of her.
