Taking over Rumble Magazine

Taking over Rumble Magazine

Rumble Magazine is a Toronto based magazine and also serves as a platform designed to promote Canadian entrepreneurs and showcase their work. Rumble magazine reached out to me offering me a chance to promote my business, by showcasing a day in the life of my work. That was super generous of them, and I am very blessed and grateful for the opportunity. Last Wednesday, I released behind the scenes video clips and photos of a fall beauty session on Rumble Magazine’s Instagram stories. It was a super fun experience.

For this fall-inspired beauty shoot I had two beautiful models, Florence and Mazzy (from Angie’s models). I have worked with both multiple times and knew they would be perfect. They both have great work ethic and also are incredible models. Carolyn was the makeup artist and hair stylist for this shoot. She nailed both looks.

The first fall look was with Mazzy. We wanted to incorporate the orange colours of autumn in her makeup and twist braids to showcase her youthfulness. I’ve got to say Carolyn did an incredible job. She is a perfectionist and her flawless work saves me so much time in post editing. The photos really don’t need much editing when I work with her. Here’s the first look.

I love booking models through Angie’s Models. Angie is a hardworking and knowledgeable agent and runs her agency very well. The models she represents are very pleasant and professional. I have worked with many of her models and have never had a bad experience, so I highly recommend hiring models through her agency. I have worked with Mazzy three times now. Her expressions are absolutely amazing and she needs no direction for posing. I am going to guess that the shooting time for this shoot, like the others before, was about 15 minutes tops. We work very well together and I love working with her.

For Mazzy’s Autumn look Carolyn started with an orange base for her eye shadow and added some brown.  For lips she went for an orange lipstick. I love autumn, and am so happy we got to do these fall inspired looks.

For the second look we were blessed to have Florence model for us. It’s nice to show different autumn looks on two different skin colours. Florence has gorgeous dark skin which is a makeup artist’s dream. Florence can wear the most vibrant colours and look amazing. I love doing beauty looks with her, and she is super fun to have on set. There is never a dull moment with her. Being around her is good for your soul too, because she will make you laugh and laugh.

For Florence’s makeup look, Carolyn made Florence’s lips the main focus by adding pop with bright orange lipstick. She also added pops of orange to her eyeshadow. Carolyn is a queen at making skin look absolutely flawless with her blending and contouring. I love watching her do makeup.

Ruth Cameron supplied the beautiful orange top. I think that was a magnificent touch to the photo. I am usually hesitant to photograph glossy fabrics such as satin, but in this case I don’t feel like it took away from the model. We even played with black tulle in some photos too.

My equipment used: my camera (Canon 5D mark 4), Strobe (Elinchrom BRX500), Large octobox, Canon 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, and Canon 24-105 f/4 lens.
