Celebrating Local Women Artists

Celebrating Local Women Artists

I woke up this morning to lots of people cheering women they know on and wishing each other Happy International Women’s Day. That’s pretty awesome. So naturally I went to Google to tell me more and specifically the history behind it. For those who don’t know, International Women’s day traces back to the early twentieth century, merging from the activities of labour movements in North America and Europe and reflecting growing movement for women to participate equally in society. I thought in spirit of International Women’s Day I give a shoot out to a few talented and inspiring women in the arts.

First, my aunt Cindy March, an incredibly talented artist. Her drawings are beyond amazing! She is such a sweet and gentle soul. I love her tons! I have never been blown away by paintings like hers. I’ll let her work speak for itself.

Aseel Al is one of Ottawa’s finest makeup and hair stylists. I had the honour of working with her once. Unfortunately I didn’t get to meet her in person but we have chatted online a bunch of times and she is super sweet. We have a shoot coming up next week together and it’s going to be epic. Check out her incredible work. Talk about attention to detail!

Raadhaa Singh, another super talented makeup/hair stylist in Ottawa. She is super fun and soooo talented. She’s the kind of girl you can have a slumber party with and the next day she can make you look like a queen! Also a very handy assistant at a shoot. I love this girl!

Noahh Karam, another incredible make up artist in Ottawa. I shoot with her weekly and she is incredible and this Sunday she is modelling for me. She such an incredible and awesome lady. I actually miss her when we don’t get to work together on our busy weeks or weeks with lots of cancelations. I love this lady!

Jessica Hobin, one of Ottawa’s best female photographers. She is friendly, down to earth and her photos are magical. I love her photography style and her mad skills. She used to be a model also and made the switch to photography. She is super easy to talk to and her photos are consistently beautiful and breathe-taking.

There are soooo many talented women in Ottawa. I could only list a few. I’m all about women supporting women and building each other up. Life is too short for jealousy or belittling. I missed tons of other talented women to add to this list but I will most likely write another blog like this that will give more shout out the the hardworking and talented women and men that I have come across. Each of these women are so inspiring.
